From the IPNA Secretary General
As Secretary General of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association,
it is my privilege and honour to invite all IPNA members and pediatricians,
urologists and nephrologists from around the world to participate
at the 13th Congress of IPNA in ADELAIDE, Australia.
The decision by the council to bring this congress for the first
time to this important continent was based on the convincing evidence
of a long-standing competence in Nephrology and Pediatric Nephrology
by Australian and New Zealand colleagues.
IPNA, founded 33 years ago, holds its Congress every three years,
additional to smaller workshops and meetings. IPNA has more than
1600 members in over 100 countries. The IPNA Journal, "Pediatric
Nephrology", is distributed in more than 380 worldwide libraries.
The upcoming Congress includes keynote lectures, plenary sessions,
symposia, free communications and a large variety of poster sessions.
The broad spectrum of renal diseases will be addressed by outstanding
speakers from around the world.
It is the sincere conviction of IPNA to support as many delegates
as possible from developing countries to enable them to participate.
This policy follows the direction of fellowships and training programs,
which have been implemented in recent years.
The Chairmen of this Congress have made a huge impact and effort
to bring it success. The advancement of clinical and basic science
in Pediatric Nephrology promises an exciting event, which additionally
will give delegates the chance to discover this huge, fascinating
continent.
All who are interested are most welcome to Adelaide, to the 13th
Congress of IPNA.

From the Congress President and Co-Chairmen
We invite you to IPNA 2004 in Adelaide - a beautiful city in a wonderfully
different continent, in a diverse and exciting region of the world.
The scientific program encompasses a range of keynote and plenary
lectures addressing the forefront of medical advances and knowledge
in areas such as stem cell research, genetic diagnosis and gene therapy,
within the moral and ethical framework of modern medicine. The interface
between pediatric urology and nephrology is a major theme with an
emphasis on wetting, minimally invasive urology and perinatal renal
and urinary tract malformation. A new format for the free communication
sessions will involve half hour talks by experts in various subjects
and short poster presentations accompanying oral abstract presentations.
The continuing medical education program will have audience participation
using question response units. At the end of each day, a time will
be set aside for delegates to discuss the day's events over a drink.
As detailed in this brochure, the International Workshops on Developmental
Nephrology, Hypertension, the International Federation of Kidney
Foundations, Pediatric Laparoscopic Urology, the Annual Australian
Pediatric Urology Club Meeting, and the 40th Annual Scientific Meeting
of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology are associated
with IPNA 2004.
The Adelaide Convention Centre is an ideal location for the meeting.
Congress hotels, museums, shops and other facilities are within a
close walk. Costs in Adelaide are remarkably low and facilities superb.
The appointment of an award winning travel agent to handle all of
your bookings, including international and national flights, hotels,
partner programs and pre and post tours allows us to provide an affordable,
enjoyable visit to complement the quality of the scientific and social
programs.
We look forward to hosting you in Adelaide in 2004.
